A really cool modern home design with detached ADU in South Austin.
One of the big challenges with this lot was an Austin Energy main power pole that was several feet into the lot. The city now requires structures to be 15' from the centerline of the pole.
The new home also sits on a slight rise, this gave us the opportunity to have the house relate to the street, yet still have some privacy.
The goal was to give the house the appearance of flat roofs without the cost and potential leaks of a flat roof.
"After working with another architect for over 10 years our schedules conflicted and I was forced to find somebody new. This part of the process can really make or break the entire project so I was a little hesitant to use somebody new.
When I found Elliot Johnson at images of..., we quickly connected and together (created) some of my favorite plans to date. The design and floor plan were both very appealing and layed out well.
He gave me City ready plans and just under 5 weeks. It was also nice to know that he has designed many homes in the city of Austin and very familiar with mcmansion rules. I expect it to be a clean run through the city.
I will definitely plan on giving him the first shot on my next development."
